The Samsung Galaxy J5 (2017) and J5 Pro (2017) should start receiving Android 9 Pie soon as they've been certified with the Wi-Fi alliance with the newer software. The models in question are the SM-J530F/DS (global version), SM-J530FM/DS (UAE version) and the SM-J530Y/G/GM/YM/DS (Malaysian version). The Galaxy J5 (2017) and J5 Pro (2017) received Android 8.1 Oreo last August.
